“take them whenever you can, especially if your job makes you want to hide in the toilet cubicle”. This made me smile and grimace as I sometimes do this exact thing.
The idea that "rest isn't another checkbox on your to-do list" is a powerful reminder that sometimes, the most productive thing we can do is let go of the illusion of control. It's in those moments of surrender, when we allow ourselves to simply "be," that true inspiration and clarity often arise. Thank you 🩵
Good on you, Kate! Enjoy your December break. I like what you said about rest being about changing and changing routine; that's really good! Thank you for sharing. I will think about changing up the routine in December.
Oh, Jana. You know how much I need to hear this. 😉 I AM taking a little break from posting this week ... because of the Thanksgiving holiday, but I'm still feeling a little guilty about it. I find that one of the hardest things about taking a break is extricating yourself from the guilt. And the thing is - carrying the guilt almost cancels out the break. It's a catch-22. Thank you for the reminder about the different kinds of rest we need. Now I'm off to make a color-coded chart. (Just kidding!) Be well!
It's exactly how I felt when I found out about these different types of rest; it's beyond me 😊 I think we like to overcomplicate things, even rest. You enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday guilt-free.
Jana, your words are powerful and just what this busy entrepreneur needed to hear today. Thank you so much for sharing the seven types of rest and for “giving” us permission not to treat rest like another check box to tick.

It's two of us, Debbie 😊

I could not say it better, Alexander. It's all about letting go of the illusion of control for me in December. Thank you for sharing.
Grateful to have connected with you here this year, Jana! Happy thanksgiving 😊 x
Likewise, Lauren. A bit late, but Happy Thanksgiving😊
Well said Jana!
I've literally just announced that I'm taking the whole of December off from posting on Substack.
Rest for me is about change. Changing the routine.
Allowing time for your mind to wander off into new areas of thought. 🥰

Good luck with that, have a lovely break! x x

I'm glad it resonated! I know the seven types are a bit excessive. Why do we often complicate things...
