The title really grabbed me because it perfectly sums up my journey to improve personal productivity.

To me, you are a great writer. I enjoy reading your articles. I could never write like this on my own and I rely a lot on generative AI to polish my grammar and choice of words. I'm curious what is ideal or good writing skills that you meant or are looking for.

Thank you ever so much! I'm glad this article spoke to you🙏✨

To answer your question, I think if you write in a language which is not your first, there will always be a doubt whether it is good enough 🤔

I feel you. I find myself puzzled at times thinking I might be able to use more vivid, unique and illustrative words and phrases in my mother tongue. But when I attempt to write in my mother tongue, I feel super insecure and cringey.

It’s like using a second language puts some kind of a protective shield around my thoughts 🤷🏻‍♀️

But so also think, unless you want to become a true literate, we should not worry too much about not being good enough in our second language.

My husband gets told at work from Americans that his English (second language) is better than his and it happened to me at times, too.

Also, simply when looking at my first language (German), there are such vast differences in “being good at using a language for expression, knowing the grammar etc.” even among native speakers!

Agreed! Focusing on it too much can get out of hand and could create a bit of a writing block (as described at the start of the post). Even a second language can become natural. I am most of the time in the learning and progressing mode. Hence, my self-criticism wanders around - often. Oh, I hear you; I think every native of any language can have issues with grammar. I use Grammarly to help me with that. I particularly like this: "Unless you want to become a true literate, we should not worry too much about not being good enough in our second language". It'd make it for a good article. Thank you for engaging and sharing your thoughts.
