So wonderful, Jana. Congrats on chapter one, and thank you for sharing it! I love how you’ve highlighted the fact that there’s so much more to writing than the actual act of putting down the words. There are so many days when I wonder why the hell I keep doing this. I rarely have an answer any non-writer would understand. My justification usually boils down to, “It’s just what I do.” 😁

I loved this first chapter of an aptly titled name for a book ALL big dreamers need. The struggles of a writer are such an appropriate parallel for the wrestles of deciding what to do with a life/career/business, how to "write" it, when to end chapters and start new ones, how to structure the book in general...

You're making me think it's time to get back to finishing my Dear Fellow Dreamer book...

I've often felt like my life is a messy first draft, full of scribbles and crossed-out sections. The idea that we can rewrite and edit our lives is both empowering and a bit daunting. I love how you highlighted the internal battles we face as writers – the self-doubt, the fear of not being good enough. It's a constant struggle, but your words remind me that it's all part of the process. Fantastic Chapter 1 🩵

Thank you, Alex, for taking the time to read through it. It's not easy to admit the internal struggles; most of us have them, yet it's hard to publish them. I appreciate your stepping forward and sharing your struggles, too.

It isn’t easy to admit them, let alone publish them. So I appreciate that you do. It makes me (and others) feel less alone, more seen. And like we all belong together in this messy crazy world!

Incredible article Jana! Looking forward to reading the next 11 chapters and seeing where the story goes

I often use the Tolkien fact about how late he started as well to ground myself

It’s uplifting to know that some writers persistent and got their break, even later on in their lives

Beautiful read like always Jana, thank you!

I can definitely relate to being in a dip. Everything you write about here I connect with strongly.

I am juggling many things too and drafts is right word to describe it all- the steps, the moods, the mindset.

Rightly said about success too. It's personal. Its not same for each one of us. It's what we define it as.

Looking forward to reading more.

Thank you 💖✨

Thank you, Saima. It means a lot that it resonated. Chapter 2 delves into the 'dips' a bit further; join me on the last Wednesday of February. As always, thank you for taking the time to read this personal chapter. Your support means a lot.

Hi Jana, thank you SO much for sharing your work with us! I think what I took from the first chapter of Drafts is that we need to approach our life as a draft. Always changing and being refined by our experiences. You’ve given me a lot to think about, thank you!
